Since its introduction 5 years ago, the HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser has quickly become one of the most popular skin-resurfacing treatments among doctors and their patients. Most of the doctors and practitioners we talked to feel that the hybrid laser fills an important void in skin-resurfacing treatments. They cite numerous advantages of the new technology, including:

  • Amazing results with minimal downtime
  • Greater flexibility in treatment
  • A more comfortable treatment experience
  • Patients are happy with the results
  • Patients recommend the treatment to their friends

In this article, we’ll hear from some of the doctors who have made the HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser a large part of their practice.

“Patients love the glow they get with HALO”

- Marguerite Germain, MD, Dermatologist

Our patients look amazing after the HALO treatment. Their skin tone is more even, their wrinkles disappear, their skin glows, and they look younger.

We’ve had several different laser-resurfacing devices, and HALO has far exceeded our expectations. HALO is more efficient and results in less discomfort and downtime. The dynamic thermal optimization makes the treatment easier and provides consistently better results. We have not been able to achieve HALO results with any other resurfacing laser.

“HALO is one of the most performed treatments in our practice”

- Lauren Whitehead, Head of Cosmetic Department, Germain Dermatology

We hit the ground running with HALO. We had a strong Fraxel business already, and it was easy to convert these patients to HALO. The HALO laser has less downtime and doesn’t require as many treatments. We truly believe in HALO and the results it gives our patients. We typically recommend a minimum of 2 treatments to start and at least once per year for maintenance. At least 95% of our patients return for another treatment.

If you’re thinking about getting HALO, get it. Your patients will love the results.

"There is no better device than HALO"

- Jason Pozner, MD, FACS, Plastic Surgeon

In my mind, there is no better device out there than HALO. With HALO, I can achieve results that I would only expect from an ablative laser but with the downtimes I would normally see with a non-ablative laser. It really is the best of both worlds.

Before HALO, I had lasers that gave me great results with a lot of downtime. And I had lasers that gave me good results with some downtime. But I didn’t have anything that could deliver great results with minimal downtime. Overall, it’s a win-win situation for the practitioner and the patient.

HALO is a minimal downtime and pain procedure. And my patients are so happy with the results that they’re telling everybody else about it. Soon, I won’t have to mention it to the patients—they’ll come in asking for it because their friends had it.

“With HALO, I can treat more cosmetic needs with one device”

- Jill Waibel, MD, PRP, Dermatologist

HALO is a resurfacing-rejuvenation-pigment-photodamage machine all in one. With HALO, I can match the cosmetic need of more patients with a single device. For example, if somebody has a lot of pigment and only a few wrinkles, I’ll focus more heavily on the dermal coagulation and not as much on the epidermal ablation. HALO is so flexible, I’ll even do a BBL treatment first on the same day that I’ll do a combined HALO treatment. You just have to know your parameters and keep things a little lower.

With HALO, if I have a patient who wants only 2 days of downtime, I can do that. When they have more time next month, we can do a more aggressive treatment. Or if they have an event and they want something more aggressive, I can do that now, and then give them a couple of maintenance treatments later in the year.

Patients come back a month later, and they’re very excited. In some cases, they can look 10 years younger—their skin is smoother and more youthful.

“Patients are always happy, and they refer their friends”

- Chris W. Robb, MD, PhD, Dermatologist

In our office, we usually see 3 things. We see dyschromia or discoloration. We see dilated pores. And we see fine-to-medium laxity or wrinkling. If I see those 3 things, I’m thinking immediately about using HALO. Because I know that in 1 or 2 treatments, I can fix all 3 of those things. I also know the results will last at least a year.

I don’t have any concern about complications. Patients are always happy when they come back. They look more reflective. They look brighter. And they’re requiring less makeup. They refer their friends. They always come back for a second treatment.

It’s a difference we can track. When we look at ultraviolet photography, we can see that they no longer have these deep, deep freckles and deep sun damage. All that deep sun damage has been removed.

“HALO has quickly become the most utilized procedure in my practice”

- Arisa Ortiz, MD, Dermatologist

HALO has quickly become the most utilized procedure in my practice. My patients love it. They tell me their friends comment on how nice their skin looks. They look a lot brighter because the light just reflects a little bit better off their skin. Their skin tone is more even.

With the HALO laser, I really haven’t had any patients squirm or have any problems with pain. They tolerate the procedure for the entire procedure and they’re healing a lot quicker, so they’re more likely to come back and complete their series.

Remarkably, I have also been seeing good improvement with pores, which is really difficult to treat. And I haven’t been too impressed with other devices in the past. So that’s something new that I’m very excited about.

Doctors are seeing the light of HALO

More and more doctors are making the HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser a big part of their practice. By delivering both fractional ablative and non-ablative laser wavelengths in the same pass, HALO treats the damage you can and cannot see at the same time. Patients receive both ablative and non-ablative results with non-ablative recovery times. What’s more, the dual wavelengths can be delivered in many different permutations of depths and coverage to customize the optimal treatment for each patient. In testimonials, reviews, and social media posts, doctors and patients express the highest levels of satisfaction with the HALO laser.
